So many girls have been going crazy about the new movie Dear John. I thought it looked really good, but whenever a movie is coming out about a book, I have to read the book before I see the movie. Same went with Dear John. I went to Target, got the book, and I was excited to read it. The book starts off as a cute love story, just like all of Nicholas Sparks books like the Notebook or A Walk To Remember. This book was so good until about half way through when the two main characters didn't end up together. The book took so many unexpected turns that it almost got annoying. I hate books when they turn out way different than your original thoughts. It also made me mad how the trailer looks all happy and dandy, when the book is nothing like that. Honestly, it is a tragic love story and the movie might disappoint many.
now that i read your summary of the book i can cross it of my list of romantic good ending books! I totally agree with you. I hate when books seem so sweet and heart warming when in fact there messed up. The good guy never gets his true love because he loves her to much to see her unhappy. When has that ever been true in real life? If you love someone you want them with you. NOT another guy. I will still be in line for the movie dreading the end...
ReplyDeleteI still want to see the movie just to see if it is any good, but that seems how all his books are. Like the notebook Allie was going to marry Lawn or whatever his name was. I would love to read this book, it still sounds pretty good.
